THAI BOXING
Muay Thai or Thai style kick-boxing is the national sport of Thailand. Thai boxing is now practiced around the world as a thrilling competitive ring sport or for fitness and self-defense. This “Art of Eight Limbs” is regarded as the most dangerous, complete and effective standing and striking martial art.
For this reason Thai boxing is also a key component in Mixed Martial Arts training. Our program specializes in MMA based Thai boxing that can be the ideal complement to Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Thai boxing can also be the ultimate fitness and cardio system with a full body work-out proven superior to most others. We offer individual training and group lessons.
You can enjoy the thrills of Thai-boxing on any level you feel comfortable with: from no-contact cardio kick-boxing, through to sparring-optional executive Muay Thai, all the way to full contact MMA competition. Whatever your goals are we are here to help you achieve them.
Traditional Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
At the dawn of the 1990s Brazilian jiu-jitsu was virtually unknown outside of Rio de Janario. When new “no rules” fighting events exposed BJJ to a wider audience the world was shocked by how easily smaller BJJ practitioners defeated fighters from all the other martial arts. These unprecedented victories ignited a paradigm shift that revolutionized the way self-defense is practiced and taught.
BJJ took the world by storm and upheld its reputation as the most complete and effective self defense system known to man. BJJ is nothing less than the triumph of human intelligence over brute strength. It is the only self-defense system actually proven to enable a much smaller person to defeat a larger attacker under real life conditions.
Women’s Self Defense
(B.A.C.K O.F.F program)
This visionary program (Basic Assault Countering Knowledge For Females) was Canada’s very first, BJJ based, woman’s self defense course.
We have been boldly empowering women with BJJ since 1991! Not just another generic self defense course, ours is the result of years of research into the realities of combating violence against women.
The B.A.C.K. O.F.F program does not rely on power or strength based techniques, such as punching and kicking, as do too many generic women’s self defense courses. These striking and “dirty fighting” tactics proved highly unreliable against assailants who are much bigger, stronger and capable of hitting back.
Most importantly, they are virtually useless on the ground which is the most likely scenario for a woman being sexual assaulted. Instead, our methods are forward thinking and based on intelligence, body mechanics and the secrets of leverage.
Executive-over 40-BJJ
Traditional Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is the perfect fitness and self-defense system for the over 40 professional all the way to our senior citizens.
We teach BJJ not as a sport but as a healthy and inspiring way of life, emphasising soft and beneficial body movements, instead of rough competitive training.
